ABS HealthyShelf HS2008P
The  HealthyShelf®  Change from MDF Wood to ABS Plastic

BlueJays Landing is replacing HealthyShelf® product models with ABS plastic as the wood inventory is sold out.  ABS plastic is the same material that Lego brand uses to make its toy bricks.

We have found that the ABS is more durable than MDF wood and has the same high quality appearance. Our new ABS units are made and painted to look exactly like the MDF.  This also allows us to produce a wider variety of colors and bring the product to market faster.

It is important to note that because ABS is a thermoplastic material, it can be easily recycled as mentioned above. This means that a common way of producing ABS plastic is from other ABS plastic (i.e. making ABS from ABS). ABS plastic is made out of oil-based resources and it has a higher melting point than other plastic. It's also stronger and harder.

These new units will come with a starter sleeve of M-fold paper towels (in addition to the hanging hardware) and will be priced the same as the MDF units (even though the cost to manufacture them is actually higher).    With proper care, the ABS plastic should last longer and stand up to more use over the same time frame without showing as much wear as the MDF wood.   On the wall, they are identical.
